Even though the Carolina Panthers didn’t win the 50th Super Bowl, they’ve had an amazing season and have a lot to show for it. Just making it to the Super Bowl is a feat—so congratulations to the Panthers on a great season in 2015!
The Panthers averaged 31.3 points per game and won 15 of their 16 games this season. Even their one loss wasn’t much of a loss—the only game they lost (to the Atlanta Falcons in Charlotte) was by a mere 7 points. That was shattered during the 50th Super Bowl, when the Panthers lost to the Denver Broncos by 14 points.
The Panthers’ Road to the Super Bowl
Cam Newton impressed us all the way to the Super Bowl. The 26-year-old has been a team leader for the Panthers this season. With a young group of core players, the Panthers may just be one of the most unnoticed teams in the NFL, and they have plenty of time to play catch-up in the future. Cornerback Josh Norman has played impressively this season and helped build a strong defense for the Panthers. And let’s not forget that Cam Newton was named the NFL’s MVP of the 2015 season! He was the first Carolina Panthers player to win the award.
Although the Denver Broncos’ defense was a little tighter during the Super Bowl, Carolina’s coach Ron Rivera won Coach of the Year to add to Newton’s award. This is his second award in three NFL seasons. Rivera was able to lead the Panthers to an amazing season of 35 touchdown passes and allowed Newton to shine for the team all season. Rivera is well known for celebrating diversity in the NFL and his own Latino heritage will hopefully inspire future players into coaching.
Urology Specialists of the Carolinas Supporting the Panthers
Urology Specialists of the Carolinas is the official urologist of the Panthers. Doctor Kirkland is proud to be the Team Urologist for the Carolina Panthers. Graduating from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and completing his residency at Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University, Dr. Kirkland holds a membership with the American Urological Association and specializes in oncology, urology, and a variety of surgeries and procedures including vasectomies and surgery for BPH.
Dr. Kirkland has also received numerous awards, among them America’s Top Surgeon (not once but four years in a row starting in 2010), and America’s Top Urologist 2009-2011. Having a team urologist is important as prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers among men, and testicular cancer in particular tends to strike younger men. Having great urological health is vital to being in your best health!
Although the Panthers didn’t take home the trophy in Sunday’s football game, they did have an amazing season that got them to the Super Bowl. With some impressive stats, talented players, and a stellar team urologist, the Carolina Panthers are certain to return to the Super Bowl and bring home the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Congratulations, Panthers!
